RDR-HXD870 freezing on HDD playback

Anyone  with any experience with this issue? The machine is 4-5 years old but has just started freezing occasionally; the picture remains frozen for a minute or so then resumes with brief pixellation of the image. I suspect it may be a dodgy bit of the HDD that the data is recorded to, but hsa anyone any ideas that mght fix it?

Have you ever done an HDD optimization? if not let's try it, maybe is a fragmentation problem. Be aware that it may take as long as ten hours to do it.
