Cannot record video - NEX-5n

Hi,

I very recently bought a new NEX-5n camera. Really good camera, lovely to use, until I tried recording video.

I pressed the record button, the screen switched to displaying "REC 0:00" on top of the image and... nothing. It doesn't record, none of the buttons work, all I can now do is turn the camera off. Nothing else will work. I tried changing the recording settings (format, resolution), but with no effect.

Basically, it looks like the camera crashes when I try to record movies.

I looked at the manual, just in case I was misunderstanding something, but no, I'm clearly using it correctly.

Also, nothing is recorded on the card.

Photo capture works fine, as expected and as per the manual.

Any idea?

Hello FabreLambeau - Welcome to the Sony Forums

Something may have gone wrong with the actual camera software and as such, I would recommend first of all that you check to see if your camera has the latest firmware which is available to download from here:

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/NEX-5/downloads/FW_NEX5_V05_WIN

Other than that, you can try resetting the cameras back to its factory defaults and this is also something that can be done through the menu. You need to choose:

MENU --> SETUP --> MAIN SETTING --> RESET DEFAULT

Thanks,

Simon

Great! At first glance I thought you need to upgrade the firmware. What's the version of it if I may ask? https://imagicon.info/cat/12-13/vmware_happy.gif
