Android TV set brightness using API

Hi all,

I have an Android based Sony TV without a light sensor.

Using my smart house server, based on an external light sensor I'm setting the picture brightness and contrast via the REST API (API doc).

It all works as expected, except of 2 issues:

  1. Each video source (like a device connected to HDMI port, or an app), has it's own brightness settings. Which means that if the server changes the brightness while the TV is on HDMI1, and then I change source to HDMI2, the brightness changes to its last setting when the TV was last on HDMI2. I wish it was possible to change the brightness settings globally.

  2. When using an app (like VLC), the API brightness only affect the video playing mode, and not the media browsing mode, which means the media browsing might be too bright or too dark to the surroundings. Again, I wish it was possible to change the brightness settings globally.

Does anyone knows a better way to getting the expected result?
Thank you for any advice you might have.

Cheers.

Hi @pda_99   What is the full model number of your TV? It will start with XR or KD.

Hi @LightFoot

Sorry for not writing the model number, I didn't think it was important, because I thought the API is shared between the different TVs.
Anyway, the model of the TV is KD-55X85J

Cheers.

Hi @pda_99   My apologies, I didn’t get beyond your first statement. With a bit of luck there will be somebody along with a knowledge of APIs to help you.
