Hello Jack - Welcome to the Sony Forums

The good news about an iLink connection is that you will not usually need the original disc that came with the camera - you just need a fully functioning iLink/FireWire socket on your computer and Windows Movie Maker will do the rest. If the device is not recognised when it is plugged in to the FireWire socket, have you checked in the Control Panel to see if the iLink socket is installed correctly with the applicable drivers? It will usually be listed in the Device Manager as an input device, and you can 'right-click' on it and check the properties for any driver issues.

Thanks,

Simon
