TRV20E wont stay on.

When I switch on the camcorder it powers up for ~5 seconds then switches off. In VCR mode there are faint Japanese symbols on the LCD screen but these also fade after ~5 seconds. I've checked the both the battery and the charger and they are OK. Tried a reset and it gives a single beep then switches off.

Any ideas on whatn to try next?

If you have already checked the battery and charger, this sounds like it is an internal fault within the camera itself. In this situation, some kind of repair would be necessary.

To find out whether a repair would be cost-effective, you could either contact Sony Customer Services or ask around at any more local camcorder repair centres. The contact details for Sony are on the following page, but like I say it will probably be a good idea to shop around:
