Cybershot W370 Zoom grinding noise

Hi all,

Had this camera for a while and ever since day one it made a sort of grinding nosie when i zoom in and out. Also when filming, the video will go in and out of focus periodically. Any solutions or ideas appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello Josh_Elf

If this grinding noise has not become progressively worse over the time that you have had this camera, it is probably nothing to really worry about as long as the zoom has continued to function correctly. On the other hand, if the noise has become more prominent and/or it is beginning to affect the performance of your camera, you may wish to find out if a physical repair is required and what the cost for this may be - further information can be obtained from Customer Services who can be contacted using the details in the following forum thread:

Regarding the focus when taking a video, if the shot is going in and out of focus when the camera is being moved around, this is a normal feature as the camera is trying to refocus on a new object. If the camera is perfectly still when recording and you are still getting the same problem, you may wish to experiment with moving the camera further away or closer to whatever you are trying to film. As far as I am aware, other W370 owners have mentioned this being an issue in the past as it is not possible to set the camera up to focus manually when taking video so you may need to try altering your shots accordingly.

Thanks,

Simon
