BDV-N7200w speaker distortion on surround sound

Have had a problem for a while regarding the rear speakers on this system. Have lazily got over it by avoiding 'concert hall' or 'cinema studio' settings where it is more noticeable. Now that my warrenty must be coming to an end I'm thinking, maybe time to get this sorted......

Both speakers on the rear are distorted, particularly so on the lower, base end.

Have tried a number of suggestions on this community website and have updated software etc

I have swapped speakers from back to front, side to side. Tried the working speakers in all positions with no problems and finally tried all four speakers on a different system and always the same two distort.

I'm now pretty certain the problem lies with the speakers themselves but am open to any further suggestions of things to try.

Many thanks in advance

Sean

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum.

We will look into this and get back to you when we have more information. Maybe some other members will also have some experience and can offer you some tips in the meantime.

Best wishes,

Hi Sean,

I'd recommend resetting the speaker to the original factory settings as explained on page 63 of the Manual. You can use the following link to access the manual: https://bit.ly/2uhq0y8.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. Have already done a factory reset and updated all software. (Partly due to a different issue I was having)

I'm pretty certain given the fact that the two suspect speakers distort even when connected to a different music system, whilst the other two work perfectly well, is suggestive of the suspect speakers being faulty.

I just want to make sure I've covered all possibilities before contacting Sony regarding getting them sorted.

So thankyou for your suggestion and any other that might be forthcoming from the community as a whole.

Sean
