.SRT & .SUB Subtitles won't display on my Sony SMP-N100?

Hi Guys,

I have a Sony SMP-N100 and I am trying to play AVI movies with matching .srt or .sub files. The file names match and when i play these on VLC player on my PC the subtitles display fine. I have updated the SMPN100 to the latest firmware.

Some people say that sub and srt are supported and that they get them to work sony says that they are not supported.

I have software to hardcode the subs onto avis but this is long winded and i dont want to have to do this for every movie.

Any assitance would be greatly apprecaited!

Is there a specific setting? I pressed the subtitles button a million times!

Hi,

i have found that hard coding the subs using AVIAddXSubs is the only way to get it to play on Sony devices., it does not take more than a few seconds to do in most cases, the only niggle is it makes another file on your system so you end up with the movie file, the sub file and then the AddXSUB file.
