Is it possible to get Live365 (Internet Radio) on TV (Sony KDL-40NX713)?

The Sony KDL-40NX713 is internet ready and I am able to watch videos via widgets like You-Tube etc. On the Music side there are only 3 widgets Music Unlimited, Berliner Philharmoniker and National Public Radio. Is it possible to add/create more? I listen to the Live 365 via the PC and can connect the PC sound to the TV but it would be nice to be able to receive the Interent Radio directly via the TV (Sony KDL-40NX713) and feed it to the surround sound system directly.

Hi there

Unfortunately, it is not possible to do. Besides listening to radio via the TV uses quite a lot of power:smileyhappy:

However if you are a big internet radio listener, I would recommend the Roberts Stream 83i. Absolutley brilliant it is. It doesnt use Live365, but has a huge database of stations, and if its not in the database, simply add it (if you can find the exact url)

Hope that helps anyhow.

Thank you very much, Quinnicus, for confirming my feeling about this. For a TV (system) that has almost everything it appears, to me at least, a little shortsighted. Sound only would not consume as much power. I listen to a lot of my music, stored on my PC, via the TV and through the surround sound system. It sounds a lot better. My sound system has a Denon AVA10SE and Bose Acoustimass 15 Home Theater speakers. Perhaps a PC hack can direct me to a way to connect the sound from the PC, via the Ethernet connection to the TV. My PC playes videos from the PC this way. Thanks for the recommendetion of Roberts. It's a fine example of excellent radios.

To skip the TV altogether, why not connect your PC/Laptop to the Denon AMP instead?

You could go from the PC's Line out socket (or even the headphones i believe) to the AMP's Audio Line in.

You may need the following cable

Depending on where your PC is, you may need a very long cable:smileylaugh:

And I guess a more wireless solution, would have to be investigated further (a quick google search, brings up http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/01/29/devolo_intros_dlan_audio/ )

But then, if your happy the way it is, why bother

Cheers
