KDL-40HX803 able to record to hdd

i've got kdl-40hx803 and was wondering if i can connect my wd passport hdd to it to use it as a recorder?

I've tried plugging it in but nothing seems to happen from what i've looked hdd needs reformatting to FAT32 but once i've do that will the tv recognise its there then?

Hi,

yes it should, however be warned the tv will ask you to register it to the tv and once done it is known that you wont be able to use the drive anywhere else!.
