Hi, can I hook up a standard laptop 2.5 internal HDD (via usb) to the TV to record stuff? Or does it have to be an actual USB HDD?

HI there

It is generally preferred that you use a powered HDD (ie one that doesnt just rely on power from the USB port) as you will probably experience less problems that way.
