Recording TV on Laptop

I would like to know if it is possible for me to record television programmes from my Bravia TV onto my Vaio VGN-NS20E Laptop?  I have an SVGA cable for using my television as another monitor for me to be able to watch iPlayer programmes on my television, and a cable to carry sound through to my sound card, but I don't know if I could use these to record from television.

Not without additional equipment.

Unfortunately, your Vaio has no way of importing video - the VGA is an output.

Provided your TV can output composite video (perhaps through a SCART socket) you could buy a USB Video Capture device but as your TV only has one tuner, you could only record what you are watching.

It would be cheaper and easier to buy a USB TV tuner which would come with software to record programs.  Have a look at these: -

Does your Bravia have a wireless networking facility?
