Sony KDL-40hx803 Cannot select side by side 3D for network content

I wish to watch 3d content on my 3d Bravia TV  from my network server using a DLNA server.  When I play the content and try and get the TV to select "side by side" 3d from the 3d menu, only convert 2d to 3d is selectable all other 3d options are not present in the menu.

I have read on other forums that it is only possible to watch internet/network 3d content through the HDMI input on a Sony Bravia TV? (absolutely gutted!)

Can this please be included in a future firmware upgrade or can anyone tell me a way of getting round this problem without buying more equipment?

Thank you

Well, I don't have any problem on my EX720 with neither Windows media player nor Homestream as DLNA server. I would guess your 3D content is the error source.

I don't know what content info Sony uses to determine none 3D content to influence their 3D menu, but it doesn't seem very restrictive since I got the full 3D menu even on my 2D streams. When I select normal TV (2D) the 3D menu is reduced like you wrote.

My TV will play the content, however it appears on the tv it displays two images side by side. Then when i press the 3d button, "side by side" is not an option it is not an option in the list.  The menu is reduced.  I will try again.  This is the same for any internet based 3d content, e.g. youtube etc.

The content of this thread was the info I was working with.

If you are saying you can do this on your tv I would like to investigate further.

Thanks for your help.

I am not quite sure if your Sony TV supports this feature since it's a slight older one I think. Do you have a 3D experience app in your Bravia internet video section? Both this one and YouTube doesn't give me the full 3D menu either, - I can only turn 3D on and off, and it automatically turns on with right settings when 3D content is selected.
