bought a vaio c2z/b (vaio c) - very slow startup

Hi Guys,

I am very dissapointed with the startup speed of the vaio c..

This probably has something to do with all the crap software preinstalled.

Is is possible to use a original windows vista home premium cd, and use my key, to install windows vista...without using the recovery cd's.

Recovery cd still installs software like norton etc etc..

I read one thread about doing a clean install, but i was wondering if it is possible to use a original windows xp home premium cd and install that one using the key that's on the back my notebook?

just as a comparison..

My girlfriend bought a 14.1" hp pavilion..It has Vista ultimate installed..1GB memory (my sony has 2GB memory).

When you start both notebooks. The HP is by far the fastest laptop..

If anyone knows, if it's possible to use a windows vista home premium cd..and install it using the key on the back of the noteook?

First of all have you tried looking what applications you have set to startup on booting?

got to start - run - type msconfig - and look at startup tab.

Disable those items you do not need.

Plus you can always uninstall any applications you don't want.

already checked ..

not many...Besides some sony stuff, it starts up bluetooth stack, NOD antivirus, skype, vaio update..

I Already deinstalled norton, ms works, office trial, etc...
