cannot re boot windows xp on my vaio laptop

i have tried going into safe mode but my vaio will not re boot it stays in the the first screen with the blue bar going round.
i have also tried system restore.
any ideas please guys

Hi globalstock,
Sorry to hear about your problem.Have you tried a system recovery(hidden partition), Start the vaio and tap F10 several times and see will it launch system recovery application.
Bear in mind though that this will restore the vaio to factory state with only pre-installed applications etc that came with it when it was new.You will lose all programmes and documents etc that you installed yourself so hopefully you had back ups of same.
