You are using the wrong type of disk - you need DVD-R or DVD-RW according to the specs at Vaio-Link.

You can search the forum by using the link in my signature. The search is still in beta and the link has yet to be added to the forum menus.

thanks for the help. so i take it there are 2 formats and not all disks can be used? I read some stuff in the faq here about not supporting writing Cds/DVDs over 700MB. surley that doesnt apply to a DVD?

That only applies to CD.

DVD can go up to 4.7GB.
There are now 3 types of DVD; they are DVD+R, DVD-R and DVD-RAM, of course the first two have RW types.

And DVD+RDL, of course:smileygrin:, they r expensive, dont buy one, cuz your laptop wont be able to write them unless its a dual layer writer.

Its a bit of a joke RDL, it's not worth doing at the moment until they knock down the prices of the media.

A pack of ten is the same price as the original drive !
