Cant see Cd/dvdrom drive Sony VGN-FE31H (not working)

Hello,

I have  a SONY VAIO VGN-FE31H. I cant see my cd/dvd drive anymore. Im working with Windows 7 - 32bits. When I go in MyComputer I cant see the drive. I have only Local disk C in MyComputer. It is not listed either in the Device Manager.. When I put a cd or dvd in the optical drive, I can hear the cdrom working but nothing happens.. I have try to restore my computer but there are no changes ...

PLEASE HELP...

Hi akramnoura,

Is the drive recognised in the BIOS (tap F2 at boot to enter the BIOS)? If not then you possibly have a hardware problem – device or cabling.

Are there any devices listed in device manager as unknown or with a warning symbol – if so is there an error code?
