Hi, hope someone here knows what there doing, my kid spilt a pint of diluted juice over my laptop and it has totaly shut down, not one thing is starting up on it so i took the HDD out of it and put it into a differant laptop. First screen to pop up is small and blue asking me for a drivelock hdd bay password. Is there anyway i can get this pw or bypass it...thank you!
Hi Arifagorilla and welcome to Club Vaio.
Bad news I'm afraid. This is an anti-theft device which prevents access to the drive except by your original Vaio. Unfortunately, it is a very efficient system with no simple get-around.
The system BIOS encrypts a password into the drive's firmware and only the BIOS in your Vaio knows the password and only allows access by the authorised users.
I don't think there is any way around this - although I have seen data recovery firms claiming to be able to remove the Drivelock password for about £150.
I suppose you could try Vaio-Link to see it they can help but I'm pretty sure there is no backdoor password.
ok thanks.
Some things here to protect us just hinder.
Hopefully there's a master password that VL know
