FS295VP started whistling when run on battery

Hi,
I have a vaio VGN-FS295VP laptop and having had it nearly 6 months now, its recently started making a very annoying whistling noise when its running on battery. As soon as you plug the power cable in the whistling noise stops. Its loudest when you put your ear near the vent in the centre of the bottom of my laptop. I have been told by a friend that it could be the battery making this noise.

Anyone got nay ideas? Its driving me nutty!

one think i recommend u try is plug in the power supply and then change the perforance setting to excatly how it is when it runs without power pluged in.

this can be done from control panel. and if the noise comes up then fan might be the cause
