graphics card

I'm thinking of upgrading the graphics card of my rs404 to a Radeon X800. I've heard that to take full advantage of this new card one needs a fairly new and powerful PC. Does anyone know whether this is a good choice or should I just go with a cheaper card.

How could I find out? The specs say nothing about PCI Xpress, so I suppose not.
