Hard drive replacement - No sound

Questions and more questions!

Please help. I have upgraded my VAIO VGN-FS 315S laptop to windows7 but I have no sound. The hard drive was removed and formatted. There are two sets/blocks of pin connections on the HD. I can only see one set of connector in which the main block of the HD pins are pushed in. I am wondering if the problems may be sound drivers for windows 7 or whether a lead connecting the smaller set of pins of the HD is missing. Any one has solutions?  Also a diagram or photo of the Hard drine connections would be helpful. The laptop is working well in windows 7 except there is no sound. It is however slow and I want to upgrade memory and possibly HD. What maximumHD and memory will it take. Is it possible to also upgrade the motherboard?

Sorry for all these questions, I am a real novice.

Thanks and best regards.

Hi Mohammud,

You probably don’t have the correct audio driver installed.
As your model came preinstalled with Windows XP it is unlikely that the original audio drivers will work with Win 7 but the Vista drivers should. You can download the Realtek Audio Driver for Vista from the following link.
