I want to upgrade my RAM in my PCG-195HP

I've got some memory from a friend with a bust laptop, problem is I open up the covers on the back and all are full. Are the other slots behind the keyboard and if so how do I access them?

Or is it a case of replacing both DIMM's with 2X512 sticks?

BTW: you wouldn't lose the warranty if not use the Sony RAM.
Because your VAIO has never seen this over-priced RAM.

Ok so what speed RAM do I need, is it 333, 400 etc.

Not much of a computer boff myself so not to sure which to go for.

Mmmh, check what for a sort of RAM is installed in your VAIO.

Use Everest Home Edition for that.

Start Everest and click Motherboard > SPD. There you can see all important data which you need for selecting the RAM which you want.

OK I've used the program and it says my RAM runs at 133mhz and the CPU uses a x21 multiplier. Surely my RAM should run quicker than this?

Hehehe, LOL, nope

133Mhz is correct. But it's DDR Ram, which means double data rate.

For example :

SDR Ram = 133MHz
DDR Ram = 133MHz x 2 = 266MHz

And the same with the CPU.

I have a Pentium4(Northwood) in my VAIO.
The real FSB is 133MHz. But Intel use Quadpump technology which means 133 x 4 ~ 533MHz Frontsizebus (FSB)

533Mhz x 20 (multiplier) ~ 2666MHz.

You know what I mean?
