Is everyone recording 4:3 video from Sky into their Sony VAIOs???

I have a Sky HD box connected to XL201 via s-video (thus sending a 4:3 signal) I am unable to change this even if I change the output on the Sky box to 16:9. I tried 4:3 letterbox but that gives me a black bar on all 4 sides.

The Vaio in turn is connected via component to my 3yr old plasma. The problem is that when I use MCE to record or watch live TV it is shown with black bars on both sides. MCE knows that I am using a widescreen flat panel monitor but it does not stretch the incoming TV signal to fill the screen.

I would think this would be a widespread issue considering that most TV tuner cards accept s-video as the best input???

Is there a workaround for this? THanks

Can you not use a scart converter to connect to the 201?
