Left Mouse Button on VGN FE21M Not Working

The left mouse button on my laptop has suddenly stopped working. The right mouse button is still working. I just don't know why it has stopped. I now have to navigate around tapping the mouse board which is alien to me and a real pain. Does anyone know why or have any ideas on how to remedy this. I'm thinking the button may have worn out but my laptop is only 18 months old!

I've done the usual - rebooted and have gone into vaio hardware and mouse properties but when I try to test the left click in the test area it's not registering.

Please help, it's driving me nuts!

Hi lozzy73,

Unfortunately it sounds like a hardware problem which will need a repair.

Have you tried an external USB mouse and does that work OK? It could possibly be a software glitch and a full System Recovery may sort it out but I think it will almost certainly prove to be broken.

I would try two things: -

1. Try a System Restore to a point when the button was working? If it is a strange software problem, this may fix it.
2. Reinstall the Touchpad Driver.

If those don't work it will need a look inside.
