Linux on VGN A115B

Well I purchased my Sony A115B a few days ago and apart from a dead pixel I am very happy: anyone know what Sony's policy is on this, it's a red dead pixel (so not a full dead one) centre of screen horizontally and about 3 cm from the bottom of the screen. I assume that Sony have Class 2 displays so this would fall within their tolorance but Sony is being evasive.

ANyway to the root of my question. I want to run linux on this and have put a copy of Mandrake 10 community on and things work OK (Fedora Core 2 just kept giving me a kernel panic on boot up from installation disk).

I can't get the Intel Pro wireless 2200BG to work, but this looks like a work in progress anyway (I have been to the sourceforge project http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/ and so will see how that develops).

I have had a look at:
http://www.linux-laptop.net/
http://www.linux.org/hardware/laptop.html
http://www.prongs.org/linux/sony/sony.html
http://tuxmobil.org/sony.html
http://tuxmobil.org/sony.html

and read through a lot of the info but can't find any reference to the model I have (and being new to using Sony I am not sure if there is another model that matches the one I have apart from doing a long a labourious trawl through all of the technical specifications)

1. Has anyone installed Linux on an A115B

2. Does anyone know if there are linux projects that deal with the buttons (volume, brightness, zoom (not that essential I never use it) and S1) on the Vaio A115B

3. Is there a project for the side scrolling on the touch pad supported under XP (or if you can use a wrapper to use the XP one)

4. Has anyone developed a power scheme for the power saving features of this machine or can I just use any centrino based one.

I know - a lot of questions and I will make some investigations I have posted this to some other fora but I thought I would try here too.

If people are interested as and when I get info on these issues I can post them.

I posted here as this seemed like the most appropriate forum, but I am new to this forum and still finding my feet.

All the best

Jason

Hi.
My Vaio is a PCG-K115M.
I have Fedora Core 2.
For your question n.2 I think you can try the "sonypi" module. With me it didn't work, but maybe I did some mistake, though I just followed instructions
Does your modem work?
Post me if you have news also about the touchpad!
Thank you!
