Loss of sound on a Vaio AR51E

Hi everyone

I have a reasonably new (since Jan) Vaio AR51E.

The sound was 100% on it as I have been using windows media player etc. I have even watched DVDs etc.

I turned it on today and suddenly noticed after a while that I was not getting any sounds. I have done a vaio update and have checked in device manager that both RealTek and the Sigma Tel audio codec are installed and working correctly - they are.

The sound is not on mute and the volume is up.

Then really strange thing is when I connect and use a set of headphones I can hear everything really clearly - the music I play, even the little clicks when programs open etc ..... basically everything that is missing through the speakers!

Any ideas?? I am new to laptops, is there anything I could have done to "turn off" the speakers in error?? :slight_frown:

Please ..... any advice would be great!

Thanks

Hi Sekhmet74,

welcome to Club Vaio..

Have you checked the sound settings.?

Click Start, the click on Control Panel..

Then click on Manage Audio Devices..

Click on Speakers and headphone, then click the configure button and in the new screen select test..

Do you hear sound from your speakers.?
