lost menus

i am not at all techno savvy-my new viao 1 month old-vgnfs115b-will now only accesses the programmes on the vaio launcher i have no desk top or menues at all tried several reboots but the desktop has gone. any advice appreciated.

Software Issue
Any changes made/instalations prior to this problem?
Try pressing F8 during boot up and select last know good Configuration.
If that doesnt work try booting in safe mode using the same method but by selecting safe mode option.
If it works fine in safe mode,
Look at the boot log to find out what the last driver was when it loaded. To access the advanced boot menu, press F8 as soon as Windows starts to load. The boot log is NTBTLOG.TXT file located in the C:\WINNT directory.
Then go to Selective Startup Start/Run/ type MSCONFIG,hit Enter
and then isolate the offending driver or program.Reboot as normal.

Have you got a covery Disk?

when i re started the file menues came back. will make a recovery disk now-no i didnt have one and nothing was supplied with the pc. thanks for your help

Glad to hear you got it working
Did you try anything I suggested or did it simply just work, just for my own records.
Might also be worth updating your virus definitions and doing a full Scan before doing a recovery, you never know.
