Noisy Fan

I have a BX197XP, great piece of kit but the Fan is extremly noisy. A lot more so than any other 17" notebooks. In fact it is so noisy I get asked to move location in quiet environments like a library at University!!!

Is this a common issue with the 17", is there an upgrade which monitors temperature and uses the fan more efficiently, hard or software?

I have a 17" and it is very quiet. My 12" got very noisy so I got an Akasa cooling tray and now it runs very quietly. It plugs into a USB port so does not need a power supply and has two extra USB ports on the back of it.
