Problems Playing Blu ray discs on VGN-AR61M

I have just purchased this laptop, and connected it to my HD TV via HDMI. When I try to play a blu ray disc through the laptop onto my HD TV it stops and says ans says something about my current environment not supporting protected content.
Can anyone explain what is wrong or any way to resolve this?

Hi skelly01 and welcome to Club Vaio.

The copyright protection will not allow you to display HD output on more than one display at once. To watch HD on your TV you need to turn off the Vaio screen by pressing Fn + F7 and toggling to the TV only.
