Problems with upgrading to latest Sonic stage from 1.6.00 original

I recently tried to upgrade to latest Sonic stage, via the upgrade section for my Vaio PCG-K115S , nad only 95% of it downloaded. It stated that some files were missing. The exact names or type I didn't make a note of due to doing other things at the same time. I remembered that I had an earlier version of the latest upgrade,that I got with my Sony Mp3 player last year, so I went to uninstall Sonic stage latest version so I could install the version from last year 3.4 I think, and there was an error message ( An installation file could not be installed, The system could not find the file specified). What has happened?, and what can I do?. Lu-e
