"LCD Screen Expansion" Phoenix Bios?

Hi there, i´ve a question to an entry in the bios (Phoenix) of my Vaio. The entry is called "LSD Screen Expansion". What does this entry mean? Maybe somebody can explain it to me?

If you enable the option then screen resolutions lower than the LCD native resolution will fill the entire screen. Displayed pixels will be stretched.

If you disable the option then actual pixels will be displayed and the usable screen area will be smaller.

If you enable/disable the option then you will see the difference when you first start XP.

It usually does although some display drivers include their own option.
