Replace processor in SZ notebook

Hi all

Do you think it is possible/feasible/wise to replace the Core Duo processor in my SZ laptop with a Core 2 Duo processor.

I don't think it's wise because they are different

Are you that sure Kee-Loo?

The Core 2 Duo (Mobile Version) uses the same socket and chipset as the Core Duo CPUs.

So it is a matter of the used BIOS if the NB will boot with a Core 2 Duo installed.

I'm not quite sure if it was a SZ, but I already read an article of some guy who actually put a Core 2 Duo in his Sony VAIO NB. And guess what, it worked!

Thanks for your replies. Are there manuals that show how to remove the processor from an SZ laptop

The CPU is not socketed, it's soldered.

Ah! Well that decides it then... I wont bother...
