I have a customer's non-warranty laptop that was dropped. The HDD is knackered and I need another one. It is for a PCG-GR3F/BP (Asia/Pac Rim Notebook). It currently has a 40Gb unit in it (but judging by the noise it is making it is probably just a box of shrapnel. Anyone got any ideas?
HITS, does it need to be the same hard disk? I.e. Same manufacturer that Sony used first time?
I did find this:
Samsung SpinPoint M Series 40GB (MP0402H) HDD
Hope this helps.
LOL, why not upgrading to a bigger one?
Is it a standard size disk?
Thanks for these postings. I'll strip the unit and see what can be done. If it is a standard size I will see what can be done, if not then it is consigned to Room 101.
Mmmmh, I have a Hitachi/IBM HDD in my VAIO.
It's a travelstar 80GN. True, it has only 4200RPM but it is pretty fast for that. You can buy this drive with up to 80GB.
The price for the 60GB version is approx 80¿ here. The prices of the 80GB version start at 130¿.
if not then it is consigned to Room 101.
