I'm an IT guy with over 30 years experience with all things computer-related.
I've been asked to look at a dead laptop for a friend and would like the service manual in order to make things easier. The machine is out of warranty and, although I can hear the fans spinning on power up, there is no hard disk activity and the screen doesn't even flicker. I reckon the motherboard is gone, but would like to open her up and take a look at the internal connections, etc. before giving my friend the bad news.
