You can use a PDA screen protector on your mousepad to stop the paint from wearing off...

Or how about a cordless optical mouse. This works with a USB dongle. The Logitech ones are available in Silver, blue, Red or Black.

Cost is around £40

I have a red one of those Logitech mice.

About £32 from Ebuyer.

However, I still think the external parts should be more durable than they obviously are. Visible paint wear after 5 weeks of use sucks. Not fit for the purpose springs to mind.

Yep quite I agree William. Buying a cordless mouse to get around poor build quality hardly seems very fair. I mean isn't that why we pay the premium?

As Steve says, a PDA cover sorts it out if you're on the move.
