Slow start up

Hi all my sony Vaio VGN-FS485B has been running fine up until the last windows update since then its had a really slow boot up time any idea what the problem may be or hs anyone else run into the same thing?

Its not the same thing as the sticky above but i did a tune up and so on just to be sure and it hasnt cured it

Hi merlinni and welcome to Club Vaio.

If you have tried all the things in the sticky post it is difficult to know what to suggest.

It is often your Firewall/Anti-Virus that delays the loading of programs and services. Have you tried looking through the Norton settings and turning off anything that says 'Scan all programs before opening them' or 'Active Scanning' and see if this makes a big difference.

Have a look in Event Viewer to see if Windows is reporting any problems with the loading of any startup services or applications:

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer

Check the other things in the Sticky Post like is DMA enabled on your hard drive?
