Upgrade dvd-rw on sony vaio b1xp

I would like to ask if it is possible to upgrade the dvd-rw that comes with the b1xp vaio. Is it compatible with the regular slimline dvd-rw or it requires any special modifications to fit in the slot?
I am considering the nec-6500 dvd-rw dl.
