vaio power adapter

i have just noticed that when i plug my laptop charger in to an elctrical outlet and my laptop my laptop tells me that i am still operating in battery mode.  when this happens the power supply on my charger makes a funny ticking/squeaking sound, when i unplug the power supply the noise slowly fades. it is the original adapter that i recived with my laptop.  does anyone know what could cause this problem and how i can fix it please.

Hi,

It sounds like your power adapter needs replacing as these things cannot usually be repaired.

I would not use the adapter as it could be dangerous and cause a shock or a fire.

What model Vaio do you have?

How long have you had it?

Is it still within Warranty?

Who did you buy it from?

What is the part number on the adapter?
