Vaio RZ424 - Power Supply...Upgrade...

I have a VAIO RZ 424, does anybody know what the max wattage of the PSU is? If it is under 350w I need to upgrade it, unfortunately I am finding this quite a difficult subject to find on the internet, not something most online companies sell. If anybody could tell me how easy it is to change the PSU and where I could purchase one, perhaps a 450w one I would be most grateful, Im getting ready for the new ati x800 graphics card and i dont want to blow my wonderful vaio up!

Ps i have a nvidia FX5600 and a FX5900xt which will both be up for sale soon if anyone is interested...

Not to sure about agp slot support, but according to the spec sheet that came with my RZ 424 the power supply has a 300w supply.

Hey whats happening? Your PSU IS 300W or there abouts. If you need 450W or 500W try www.dabs.com. It's a great site for PSUs.
I found one the Silent 420W ATX PSU DUAL FAN @ £37.50inc VAT (and probabaly a £2.00 delivery charge).

However keep in mind the RZ Seires casing are compact, hence with 300W or above Power Supply Units, OVER HEATING is an issue. Consider purchasing a Water cooling system for your PC.

Good Luck!

First of all you won't a power supply that will fit into the RZ-chassis, as it is a very small/short form factor.
Second it is a 350 WATT, so plenty of power.

And last: ATI's X800 is a PCI Express card, which is utterly different to the AGP-slot type of cards we see these days on the market.

That is mainly to the new Grantsdale (i915) chipset from Intel which was officially launched today (21.06.04).
We reached a point in IT where we move from old to new plattform, and AGP is dead as of today - well, at least almost...:smileytongue:

So,
Just to confirm, its 300 or 350 watt?
The x800 is also available in agp form, as well as PCI express...thank god!

Thans for everyone's comments...:smileyhappy:
