VGN-FW31ZJ Windows 7 installation

My hard drive crashed and I lost all recovery data. I bought a new hard drive and installed Windows 7.

My question is should I install the Windows Vista drivers and application first or should I skip them and get the Windows 7 upgrades?

Rgds

Hi rberbert.

You may find that there are not Windows 7 Upgrades for everything so you will need some of the Vista software available in the Original Preinstalled Drivers and Utilities section as well.

I think most of the Windows 7 Upgrades will install without first installing the Vista ones but if you get a message saying 'original software not installed' then you will need to install the Vista Preinstalled version first.

Some software programs that were preinstalled like WinDVD BD will not install as the original software must be installed first and this can only be done from Recovery Discs.  I presume you did not make a set when you first got your Vaio?

Hi Blencogo

Thank you for the reply and yes I did not make the Recovery disk

Is there no other way to get the WinDVD?

Best Regards
