vista readyboost on sz5

Good morning folks.
I know I can use a USB flash drive to enable use of Windows Vista readyboost, but will it work with a memory stick in the internal drive?
If yes, would I notice any performance difference if I put a 2Gb memory stick into my SZ5 having 2Gb onboard RAM and Centrino Duo 2.13 GHz?

Hi martynrb,

Quite honestly, you will not receive any performance improvement by using Readyboost. Some people have even noticed it takes longer to boot with Readyboost.

Readyboost is only useful for PCs that have a maximum RAM of less that 1GB and because of their age cannot be upgraded to more. For everyone else, additional RAM is far better and usually cheaper.

Vista will only pagefile to the flash drive if it uses up all the available RAM first and this is unlikely with 2GB RAM installed.

It is really just a gimmick because any PC with a maximum RAM if 512MB probably will not run Vista properly anyway.

Oh - yes, most Memory Stick Pro media can be used if you want to try it.
