Windows 7 SP1 installation in VPCF12Z1E

Hi. Originally my laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit). Later I upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate buying just a lisence code for it and the windows upgraded nicely still keeping all the VAIO functionality alive.

Now I have had following problem with Windows 7 SP1.

1) installation from windows update. Went smoothly but after reboot when Windows run "taking upgading functionality into use xxxxxxxx/331403" it stops somewhere 118456/331403 ...machine registry....

2) Did same in silent mode. Same but stopped somewhere 115549/331403 ....registry

3) I downloaded X64 SP1 from Windows download center and both ways the same result

4) I downloaded the full ISO image and burnt it into DVD run it and the same result

     115549/331403 .....Machine registry....

     115760/331403. ....Machine registry....

     115480/331403 .....Machine registry....

     115587/331403 .....Machine registry....

Has anyone else had this kind of problem.

And moore...

Now VAIO CARE stops working everytime after windows has loaded and in use

IaStorIcon stops also.

Not possible to do windows backups

If I try to run diagnostic it stops in the beginning saying unnknown problem exist code:0x80070002

Any suggestions, Good ones

Hi, sorry, no good suggestion, but better than nothing, check out...

This long thread covers various things you can try, notably sfc /scannow and a procedure known as "check SUR". (SUR = system update repair, IIRC).  It's about SP1 problems with various VAIO models, but doesn't match your description here.
