wireless printer problems, need help

people I have bought a HP PSC 2510 wireless printer and its giving me hell. I can print wirelessly, but cannot scan wirelessly. the HP people tell me it's my notebook (vgna117s) but I don't know. The notebook throughs up this message, the fuction you have requested cannot be performed because another progran already has control of the divice. if the program currently using the divice, save any unsaved work, close the program and try again.

I havent used this particular machine, but it may be worthwhile looking at the HP software and there should be a monitor for all functions including printing, scanning and faxing. I would uninstall and reinstall the software and see if that works?
