Available in Europe by the end of May as a free update for all Sony Tablet users, latest Android Version 4.0.3 (also known as Ice Cream Sandwich) brings many new features and operating system enhancements to Sony Tablet S and Tablet P models. Android 4.0.3 brings an even more intuitive, consistent feel to the Sony Tablet experience. Now it’s easy to create folders on your Workspace with simple drag and drop gestures. Recently-used apps can be dismissed with a swipe, avoiding multiple apps running unnecessarily in the background. A more responsive browser lets you toggle instantly between desktop- and mobile-optimised web sites. Pages can also be saved for offline reading at leisure when you’re away from a wireless connection.

On top of all the enhancements provided by Android 4.0.3, unique additions by Sony further personalise your multimedia user experience.

Sony Tablet S users can now directly access and view content stored on removable full-sized SD card. This makes Sony Tablet an even more attractive choice for viewing photos and video clips shot on a digital camera or camcorder. Just slip your camera’s SD card into Sony Tablet and enjoy on the detail-packed touchscreen – or store and share online with PlayMemories, the cloud-based service from Sony (NB: PlayMemories Online is available in the UK, France and Germany).

Frequently used functions are kept in easy reach with a new Sony-unique ‘Small Apps’ update.  An ‘always-on-top’ launcher icon gives instant access to Browser, Remote Control (Tablet S only) and Calculator apps while you’re using other tablet functions. I only picked the Sony Tablet S because it had the universal remote app. Again, I've been reminded why I generally avoid Sony products like the plauge. They sure aint the company they used to be.

Guys don't forgot that the daily updates normal come @ midnight if I remember correctly. Until then they a still in their time scale regular daily updates & it's "business as usual" for them.

As a qualified I.T. manager I can see the advantage of doing the upgrade "out of  business hours" to keep the phones free until the morning onslaught of issues.

But with my owners hat-on i'm just as impatient as you guys, especially as I'm sat here at home, twiddling by thumbs, whilst I'm having some work done with Tablet in hand refreshing the "check for updates" in settings, not that that will speed things up.

agreed but it wouldnt hurt for a sony rep to monitor this thread and let people know if this is the case, i strongly suspect this has not happened because they know the update is not ready and will not happen in time.

identally sorted out the bad wifi connection by reducing wifi security to wep, just thought i would let you all know incase anyone is having same problem

Sounds like an ok solution if you're in a less densely populated area, not sure I'd feel comfortable reducing my wifi security, as there are about 20 other flats in range 😕
