DLNA sharing media works. one machine as server, other as client. Various software alternatives for them.

Mediasharing over the cloud works, dropbox app on tablet, software on mac, for example.

Netwerkshares on macbook if properly set up also work. Filemanager app on tablet can access them.

External sdcard can be used to transfer files.

streaming any screencontent between the two machines: there are apps/mac software combo to take over macbook on your tablet screen. Don't know of an app thst does it the othere way around.

Xperia tablet is an Android tablet. You can download the Android File Transfer to your Mac. Then you can transfer files between Mac OS X and  Xperia tablet. If the files are supported by both MacBook Pro and an Xperia tablet, then thesse files are compatibility.

• Use the USB cable that came with your Android device to connect it to your Mac.           
• Double-click Android File Transfer to open it the first time (subsequently, it opens automatically).           
• Browse the files and folders on your Android device, add folders, copy files up to 4GB to or from your Mac, delete files, and more.
