Info banner keeps popping

Hi,

I have just bought a new sony tv 49XE9005. I have connected apple tv 4 using a hdmi cable.

I am playing a movie on apple tv using an app called "infuse player". Each time I start or stop a movie or rewind/forward, i see an info banner popping up on the top of the screen showing hdmi 2.

I understand that this banner shows each time you change a source but how come it is showing every single time I play a movie or stop or rewind or forward? Is there no way disable this?

I have checked the software version; it says up to date. I have also checked that the tv is not in retail mode. I have also reset the tv but still this banner keeps popping up.

Any help please?

I had a same problem. This should work, atleast it worked for me.

Home->settings->channel settings->infobar->off

Hi I have a Sony zd9 65” when I watch a blueray or play my ps4 pro I get the info bar popping up randomly both devices are on separate hdmi both enhanced for the 4k hdr plus my Sky Q box ps by switching of the hdmi info off this should help ?

Hi @haferguxk

Yes as a "work-a-round" turn off the Info banner Home -> Settings -> Channel setup -> Info banner Off. Note you will probably have to do a soft reboot for it to take effect. (Hold down the power button on the Remote until you see Powering off ...)

I can’t turn this off on my KD-43XE7002 and it pops up constantly when I’m browsing Netflix. Could this option be added to these models in a future update.

I own a kdxe7073,I have just connected up a Panasonic soundbar and I'm getting the info bar nuisance on certain channels (mainly movies) the screen goes black and the info bar pops up,the suggested workaround isn't selectable on this model.

Didn't work for my 49XE8005.

I try different quality hdmi cables, on all hdmi inputs. The banner on top appear randomly during viewing anything from any of hdmi ports.

Tried the suggestion at first page but did not solve it for me.

It keeps appearing while watching a movie from pc or while watching tv channels from a TV TOPBOX.

I have the latest software installed.

I have kd-49x7000e, everytime I turn over the channel to another channel the tv's info bar comes up with the input , resoultion and time bar.

Turning off Info bar option is not available in the model.

Let me know if some one could help me to fix this issue as it is very annoying.

I don't know why this has been flagged as solved. I have this model in Australia and the Info Banner option is not available here either.

Home > Settings > Channel Settings > Infobar > Off

Does not exist on the most recent KD-49X7000E software.

Hi @Kermit_the_Frog. That is because you are in the wrong forum. The solution is for Android TVs in the Android forum and your TV is Linux.

Sony does not give solution. It was a very bad experience with support team. They purposed:

1. Press info button to make the popup disappear (I am not going to press the button twice per minute).

2. Disable info banner in menu (they should know my model does not give the option)

3. Connect another PC (I am not going to buy another PC, it is brand new and not cheap)

My purpose is (PC Windows 10 connected HDMI to TV KD-65XE7096😞

- Keep HDMI connected

- Go to Sound settings in Windows and disable sound output in TV (right click and disable). Sound remains on PC.

- Output sound through headphones to speakers (not tried to send headphones output to TV but I think it should work)

Info popup disappeared. I know it is not a optimal solution but I prefer rather than the banner appearing twice every minute. Also purposed solution for removing info banner from those TV that have the option is a cosmetic solution.

Hope it can help to someone.

Same thing with an XF9005. It's obvious once you know. Stupid banner popped up with DVD layer changes and was quite annoying, so thanks!

I have a KD43XG7003 connected to my pc & the annoying info banner keeps popping up whilst I'm on desktop. The good thing is that it doesn't pop up whilst gaming, but would be nice if we could disable it all together.

I have my pc connected to the tv via a DP to HDMI & then HDMI to a sound receiver.

Audio to TV is disabled but still doesn't fix the problem.

Sorry you have posted in the Android TV community and the work-a-round for Android TVs is shown in the thread under Solution. You appear to have a Linux TV covered by the https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/other-tvs/bd-p/tv_en_1 community.

You should note that the info banner is appearing every time the audio format changes. A work-a-round for Linux TVs, although it will degrade your audio experience, is to fix the audio format to PCM or Normal. Sony are aware of the problem but have chosen to ignore customer complaints about this for several years!

Never had this until updating to V6.7140 a couple of weeks ago.

Using the solution suggested seems to have stopped it from keeping popping up.
