I just hate the built in Opera Browser ....

Any chance Sony will implement Google Chrome browser? Or is there a way to get it as an app?

Opera keeps chrashing when I try to watch sports live stream and stops rendering.

Hi there

Google chrome can only be installed if you have a 2015 or 2016 Android based TV.

If you have this:

Load up the opera browser
Type in this URL: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
Install
You will also need to install TV Sideload Launcher: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.tv.sideloadlauncher

To run Chrome via the tv, just load up the side load launcher and then run Chrome.

If you have any other Sony TV other than the Android based ones, then it is not possible

Can I install all sorts of Android apps via Side Load Launcher like ViaPlay?

Viaplay has an app on Google Appstore but it is not avalible from Android TV Appstore.

I have a Sony KDL-50W755C tv.

Hi there

You can install many apps that arnt available in Googles TV Play Store, however not all of them will work. So its a trial and error basis im afraid.

Dear Quinnicus,

I have had the exact same problem, the streaming logo keeps appearing every 2-3 secs on even 720 and 1080 movies ruining the whole movie experience. And it is not due to the connection speed bcos I can smoothly watch every 4K movies on youtube. So it must be because of Opera.

I tried to sidelaunch google chrome as you instructed, but the remote doesnt respond. What else you may suggest?
