The socket was tested by an electrician, he used a plug in device that tested the earth, and the RCD in the fusebox. Im not sure what it was called, sorry.

I seem to have a strange problem in that the thin metal screen surround seems to be 'charged', when I touch it I get a tingling feeling as if its live or has a build up of static. Has anyone else had this or any ideas ?

Hi @fatboyz62

This is possibly due to a static charge build-up from carpeted floors, socks, low relative humidity in the room, or a combination of all three.

You may have a bad earth somewhere, which is another matter. Have you tested for that?

Cheers

Socket is ok, no static from socks, carpets etc. There is a voltage on the surround, have emailed Sony, waiting on their reply.

Hi there,

I'm interested to know the method by which you confirmed the socket is ok. Have you tested a different one for example?

Win_88

Hi again,

Apparently, this is normal: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-49xg9005/articles/00150216

I don't think there's anything you should worry about.

Win_88
