Thanks Rooobb,

Yep, reluctantly I have had to dismantle, break and cut everything up into easily disposable pieces.

I have a second-hand kdl-65W855C which was gifted to me over a year ago. It worked beautifully until I moved house and managed to damage the inside screen. The outside glass is in-tact but behind the glass there are several areas where the crystal is cracked. No picture can be seen on the display, and I cannot test audio because I dont know what remote button to press to get to what would be the TV.

There is no warranty/insurance cover on this at all.

Its too huge and costly for me to take to a repair shop - and especially not while Im still in lockdown mode. So, with my old pc hardware engineer skills, I want to try to replace the screen inside. Are there parts (however costly) and instructions on how I can do this. Felt its worth me trying a DIY fix before throwing out the TV.

Desperately looking for a glimmer of hope on this already painful day.

Nope, it's dead.

Best bet would be to contact your house insurance and claim on that, for accidental damage, if you can, but seeing as it was a gift, unless you can get the receipt, as some insurance companies ask for them.

There does seem to be some sort of fragility to modern tvs, and heat/cold affects them, also damage from being moved, etc.

Common over a few brands, you can see this by googling it.
