ITV have launched the new platform ITV X. When will this update on my Sony TV?

I am also unable to access 'live' tv on the current ITV Hub app. How do I resolve this?

The starting point for any request for help from your fellow customers is the full model number of your TV (it will start with XR or KD).

As you probably know, the official launch date for ITVX is December 8th.

I'm afraid that nobody can confirm when ITVX will be available, only Sony know that and they don't release information in advance.

I am using XR65A80J and facing the same issue. The ITVX is already launched and all the live content of itv hub is now moved to ITVX.

When will we get an update from Sony which will contain ITVX ? Can we download and install using apk on the TV anyway ?

PS: This is affecting FIFA World Cup viewers and isnt a pleasant experience after buying such an expensive TV

What is it you can’t do?

You can watch live on the TV, and on catchup on the itv Hub app still.

Or can’t you?

Hi, I can access the ITV Hub app but it had no live streaming service.

I would presume it's because they have moved it over to ITV X but our TVs haven't updated with this app!

ITV X may be launching on 8th December but it's still accessible online so they should have launched the new app across all platforms on the same date.

Hi @Hpayne Why would you want to stream it on your TV when you can watch it live on ITV? I can understand streaming it on UHD BBC iPlayer but not ITV.

I bought this TV specifically for the apps, this was my reason for purchase as I'm unable to set up a satellite in the location where the TV is set up.

Hi @Hpayne

You would have probably been better off buying a Roku which already has ITVX. As far as I can see the only make of TV which has ITVX is Samsung. It is slowly being rolled out so we never know, it may be available on other TV makes before the target date less than two weeks away.

Unless I have missed it, you haven’t told us which TV model you have.

What about a terrestrial TV aerial? You don’t/can’t have one of those?

In which case, get on Amazon quick and scarf up a Firestick at Black Friday prices. These have more sensible versions of all the major apps on your TV now, including live channels on itv Hub/itvX and All4, plus many more besides, and all running a great deal quicker than on the TV.

For those in need of live streams from itv x.

Use the app on mobile and cast to the sony tv.

What actually comes up is a full HD version of the app on the TV saying "waiting for stream"

Then on mobile, simply start the live channel you want, lock your phone and enjoy.

@Lord_viridis Yes this is currently the bust option until Sony launches the app. But its frustrating to not receive the update. Most importantly Sony tech supports are not aware of this, they talk you through all unwanted scripted Troubleshooting. I am staring to hate sony customer service

Well it is now 8th September and no ITV X app KD-A55 all other devices Pixel phone Now tv Roku and Amazon have added the app ahead of time I might add but as always Sony seem to drag their feet releasing the update

I have the KD48A9. The app for the ITV hub remains the same with no new features. A couple of programmes from ITVX are mentioned but that is all. Very disappointed. Hope an update comes soon.

There are some "why do you need ITVx" responses on this thread. Well the best reason is that some programmes will be released (or even exclusive to) on ITVx before going to broadcast.
